Repairing procedure
Step 1: Safety Precautions- Before starting, ensure the range is completely turned off and disconnected from the power source to prevent any electrical hazards.
- Allow the range to cool down if it has been recently used to avoid burns.
- You’ll typically need a screwdriver set (usually Phillips-head and possibly flat-head), work gloves, and possibly a flashlight for better visibility.
- Locate the control board in your range. It’s usually located behind the control panel or on the back of the range.
- Depending on the model, you may need to remove the control panel or the rear panel to access the control board. Refer to the range’s manual for specific instructions on accessing internal components.
- If the control board is located behind the control panel, use the appropriate screwdriver to carefully remove the screws securing the panel in place. Once the screws are removed, gently lift and set aside the control panel, being mindful of any wires attached.
- If the control board is located on the back of the range, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safely removing the rear panel. This usually involves removing screws along the edges of the panel.
- Once the control board is accessible, take a picture of the wire connections or make a note of their positions for reassembly.
- Carefully disconnect the wire harnesses or connectors attached to the control board.
- Using the appropriate screwdriver, remove the mounting screws securing the control board in place.
- Gently pull out the old control board from its position.
- Align the new control board in the same position as the old one and secure it with the mounting screws.
- Reconnect the wire harnesses or connectors to the corresponding terminals on the new control board.
- Open the oven door and inspect the hinges. Depending on the issue, you may need to replace one or both hinges.
- The hinges are typically located on the sides of the oven door and attached to the oven frame.
- Using the appropriate screwdriver, remove the screws securing the hinges to the oven frame.
- Carefully lift the oven door off the hinges and set it aside.
- Install the new hinges in the same position as the old ones and secure them with the screws removed earlier.
- Place the oven door back onto the hinges and ensure it is properly aligned.
- If you removed the control panel, carefully position it back in place and secure it with the screws removed earlier.
- If you removed the rear panel, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safely reattaching it.
- Restore power to the range by either plugging it back in or turning on the circuit breaker.
- Test the range by turning it on and ensuring that both the control board and oven door operate properly.
- Monitor the range during initial use to ensure there are no unusual sounds or behaviors.
